Former national team guard Yang Ming was appointed as Vice President of Liaoning Basketball Club, as well as an assistant coach for the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) team, the club announced on Monday.

Yang, who retired last season with Liaoning, will manage business development, brand promotion and training camps for the club. The executive board made the decision through careful consideration following a positive conversation with him, according to the club.

"For Yang, after the retirement, it is a great challenge to change from a player to a vice president in the club, but he doesn't fear the difficulties or the obstacles," said a statement released by the club.

"Meanwhile, the decision-makers are fully confident of Yang's capability. The 34-years-old, a veteran with a lot of experience, can bring his best to a new post as he has done before, work on delivering better results and create a new atmosphere for the club," the club said through the statement.

In the 2018-19 season, Yang played 41 matches, averaging 3.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, and two assists in 13.3 minutes.
