The three sections in parallel next to the river have been used for business and administration, culture and sport and ecological technology respectively. The section in the left middle is planned to develop trade and logistics and the right part has been reserved for the future construction. The section far from the river has been built into a place for environmental protection and tourism.

In past five years, the development of Wuxiang New District has embarked on the fast track. It has received a total investment of 136.9 billion yuan ($19.7 billion) and used foreign investment of around $780 million. At the time of this writing, 28 Fortune 500 companies including Bank of China, rolling stock manufacturer CRRC and real estate developer Vanke have established business here.

"Many bridges have been built over the Yong river. The subway line 2 has been put into use at the end of last year. Line 3, Line 4 and the extension of line 2 is under construction and will open one by one in the next three years," said Lyu Xi, an official from the management committee of the new district. All the subway lines mentioned has already do or will run through the area.
