In Numbers: China's higher education enrollment ratio reaches 59.6 pct in 2022(1/4)

The gross enrollment ratio in China's higher education reached 59.6 percent in 2022, up 1.8 percentage points from 2021.

There were over 46.55 million students at higher-educational institutions including universities, colleges and vocational education facilities across the country as of 2022.

China had 518,500 schools and universities, 293 million students and 18.8 million full-time teachers at all levels in 2022.

The gross enrollment rate of preschools grew to 89.7 percent in 2022, up 1.6 percentage points from a year earlier, and 85 percent of kindergartens were deemed affordable.
