German student wins 25th 'Chinese Bridge' global finals

(ECNS)-- German contestant Levi Benjamin Petersen won the championship Sunday at the global finals of the 25th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students in Xiamen, Fujian Province. 

This year’s event drew 157 contestants from 139 countries and regions. Finalists from Vietnam, Togo, Germany, the United States and Australia competed in quizzes, speeches, talent shows and debates, with Petersen prevailing in the final round of 20 questions.

He said studying Chinese for five years has brought major progress and that he hopes to continue his studies and work in China.

The “Chinese Bridge” program, launched 25 years ago, has attracted more than 1.8 million learners from over 160 countries and regions.
