On August 21, the State Council Information Office held a press conference as part of the “Start of the 15th Five-Year Plan” series. One phrase stood out at the press conference: “investing in people.”
China's general public budget allocated 12.4 trillion yuan for education, social security, healthcare, housing, and related areas, up 5.4 percent year on year.
The Ministry of Finance made it clear that “China’s door will only open wider.”
During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the Ministry of Finance will continue to expand imports of high-quality goods, develop diverse platforms for opening-up, and deepen international economic and trade cooperation, while accelerating efforts to build a scientific and efficient modern tariff system.
From issues concerning the elderly and children to tariff policies connecting China with global markets, fiscal policy focuses on both people’s well-being and opening-up. (Reporter: Huang Fang, producer: Zhang Yixuan)
