(ECNS) -- Chinese AI company DeepSeek said in a notice to users Thursday that it plans a significant price increase for its application programming interface (API) services, but did not disclose the size of the increase or when it would take effect.
The company advised businesses and individual developers to plan their usage and top up accounts based on actual needs until final details are announced. DeepSeek has previously drawn attention for its relatively low API prices, and the planned increase could require developers relying on its services to recalculate operating costs.
It currently doubles prices during weekday peak hours. At standard rates, DeepSeek-V4-Flash charges 1 yuan ($0.14) per million input tokens and 2 yuan ($0.28) per million output tokens.
