China imposes countermeasures on six U.S. entities

(ECNS) -- China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) announced on Wednesday a decision to take countermeasures against six U.S. entities, effective immediately.

The move came in response to recent U.S. sanctions against Chinese companies under the pretext of so-called "forced labor," which China says seriously violates international law and the basic norms of international relations, and gravely undermines China's sovereignty, security and development interests.

The six entities were placed on China's countermeasure list for "assisting and supporting the United States in imposing illegal sanctions related to Xinjiang," according to a MOFCOM statement.

All organizations and individuals within China are prohibited from engaging in any transactions, cooperation or other related activities with the six entities.

The six U.S. entities subject to the countermeasures are:

1. Applied DNA Sciences, Inc.

2. Stratum Reservoir, LLC.

3. Altana Technologies, Inc.

4. Responsible Business Alliance

5. Verite Group, Inc.

6. Human Rights in China

The decision was issued as MOFCOM Order No. 2 of 2026 and approved by China's national coordination mechanism for countering foreign sanctions.
