Dual holidays plus Canton Fair to drive passenger boom at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport

(ECNS) -- Passenger flow at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport in Guangdong Province is expected to surge during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, coupled with the 140th Canton Fair, according to the Baiyun Immigration Inspection Station.

Between Sept. 24 and Oct. 7, more than 750,000 inbound and outbound passengers passed through the port, averaging about 55,000 daily with a single-day peak of around 60,000. The figure marks a 15% year-on-year rise, with foreign visitors accounting for 45%.

From Sept. 28 to Oct. 7, Baiyun Airport will add more flights linking Guangzhou with Southeast Asia, with eight round-trip services scheduled weekly.

An estimated 370 passenger flights will operate daily during the holiday period, up 10% year on year, as many travelers take extended vacations to boost outbound trips.
