China's BDS installed on over 12 million commercial vehicles

(ECNS) -- More than 12 million commercial vehicles in China are equipped with the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) , with high-precision lane-level navigation covering more than 99% of urban and rural roads. 

Li Chao, a National Development and Reform Commission spokesperson, made the remarks at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday, saying BDS is becoming a major driver of industrial growth as its applications expand from transportation to agriculture, fisheries and other fields.

China's BDS industry generated more than 629 billion yuan ($87.9 billion) in output in 2025, with more than 30,000 enterprises and institutions and over 2 million employees.

BDS products are also used in agricultural machinery, drones, fishing vessels, smartphones, electric vehicles, shared bicycles and wearable devices, and have reached more than 140 countries and regions. Li said China will promote broader application and international development of BDS during the 15th Five Year Plan period, with industry output expected to exceed 1 trillion yuan within five years.
