Digital agenda and artificial intelligence to redesign tourism

Every year on September 27, the world observes World Tourism Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of the social, cultural, political, and economic importance of tourism. The day has been celebrated since 1980, with September 27 chosen because it marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Statutes of the World Tourism Organization in 1970. 

The theme for World Tourism Day 2026 is “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.” Hosted by El Salvador, this year’s theme explores how digital transformation and artificial intelligence can reshape the tourism sector by improving visitor experiences, efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability.
