China's Zhang Kexin delivered a strong performance to win silver in the women's halfpipe at the FIS Freeski World Cup in Calgary, Canada, while teammate Li Fanghui finished just off the podium in fourth place.
In qualification, three of the four Chinese athletes advanced to the final. Li topped the qualification rankings but ran into trouble in her opening run of the final. Despite a solid start, she made a mistake in the closing section and scored just 26.40 points.
Zhang competed third from last in the final and produced a strong opening run, scoring 84.20 points to move into second place. She was unable to improve in her second attempt, but her first run proved enough to secure the silver medal, marking a positive step forward on her road to the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics after preparations that had been affected by injury.
Li showed her strength in the air during her second run, posting one of the biggest amplitudes in the field along with strong difficulty and solid grabs. However, a slightly untidy finish cost her valuable points, and she finished fourth with a score of 82.80.
Australia's Indra Brown took the gold with 85.20 points. Liu Yishan placed seventh, while Olympic champion Gu Ailing did not compete at the event due to training commitments.
