IELTS official mock test system launched in China

(ECNS) -- The official IELTS mock test system has been launched in China, offering mock tests for all four IELTS skills, as well as dedicated speaking and writing assessments, the British Council said.

Developed under the leadership of the British Council's China team, the system uses artificial intelligence to provide more detailed feedback on learners' language abilities and help identify areas for improvement.

"Assessment should not simply be a way to verify learning outcomes, but also serve as a starting point for further learning and improvement," said Tiffany You, director of English and Examinations China.

The platform provides more detailed assessments of productive skills, particularly speaking and writing, which are areas of particular interest to Chinese IELTS candidates.

Writing assessments cover task response, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy, broken down into 16 subdimensions. Speaking assessments examine fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation, with 14 subdimensions for more detailed evaluation.

The British Council said China is becoming an important testing ground for innovation in Englishlanguage learning and assessment, with experience gained in the Chinese market expected to inform future product development worldwide.
