(ECNS) -- By the end of 2021, nearly 980,000 primary medical and health institutions of various types had been established across China, with 90 percent of households capable of reaching their nearest medical facility within 15 minutes, said an official of the country’s National Health Commission on Thursday.
By the end of 2021, there were more than 4.4 million health workers nationwide, serving communities, towns, and villages, Nie Chunlei, director of the Grass-roots Department of National Health Commission told a press conference.
Basic medical infrastructure in China has been continuously improved, facilities and equipment upgraded, and the environment made more comfortable. The proportion of primary medical treatment has remained above 50 percent for a long time, Nie said.
