(ECNS) -- Southern Chinese cities prefer green transportation more than in other areas of China, according to a joint report by mapping firm AutoNavi, State Information Center, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba and other institutes.

The report's "Green Travel Willingness Index" evaluated people’s preferences in transportation methods in 50 cities by analyzing AutoNavi’s collected data about use of subways, buses, cycling and walking.

Nanjing in Jianagsu Province ranked first on the list, followed by Lanzhou in Gansu Province, Xi’an in Shaanxi Province, Shanghai, Beijing, Wuhan in Hubei Province, Xiamen in Fujian Province, Changsha in Hunan Province, Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province and Nanchang in Jiangxi Province. Of the 10 cities, seven are in southern China.

The report also analyzed people’s satisfaction with public transportation in 21 cities, with Ningbo in Zhejiang Province topping the list. Shenzhen and Tianjin also performed well in providing digital public transportation information.
