After a gymnasium roof collapsed on Monday evening in Huanan county of Jiamusi, Heilongjiang province, local governments across the province launched comprehensive, in-depth inspections to eliminate major safety risks at other sites.

The collapse, which killed three people and injured two, triggered a government response that will focus on campuses, stadiums and construction sites, China Central Television reported on Tuesday.

On Tuesday evening, the roof of a funeral home in Qitaihe collapsed under heavy snow. No one was injured in that incident.

Professionals, including the original designers, structural experts and testing agencies across the province have been organized to suggest measures that will eliminate safety risks and protect residents' lives and property, under the Heilongjiang Housing and Construction Department and provincial Emergency Management Department.

On Tuesday, Jin Xin, director of the Huanan city development and reform bureau led a team looking for safety hazards in major markets throughout the county and provided on-site guidance on snow removal by enterprise owners.

As of 2 pm on Tuesday, Jinlin district in Yichun city had dispatched 26 teams with a total of 107 members to inspect sports stadiums, teaching buildings agricultural greenhouses, livestock buildings on farms, enterprise buildings, dilapidated houses, forests and welfare institutions such as nursing homes.

A total of 276 companies and locations were inspected, and 29 problems were identified, all of which have been rectified.
