(ECNS) -- WeChat said it is working to adapt its app to Apple's foldable iPhone Duo after a hashtag saying it was not optimized for the device trended Thursday on China's Weibo social media platform.
A blogger who tested the iPhone Duo found that when the device was unfolded, WeChat filled only the center of the large screen, leaving wide black bars on both sides. The app also lacked a tablet mode and could not log into two accounts at once, leaving much of the screen unused.
The developer toolkit for the iPhone Duo was made public in early October, so many developers must wait until they receive the device before beginning compatibility work.
Responding to questions about compatibility with apps such as WeChat and QQ, Apple customer service said it had not received any reports of such problems. It said iPhone Duo devices are tested before release and advised users to rely on official information, adding that current claims of incompatibility were based on third-party tests.
The company said it would release an update as soon as possible and keep improving the user experience.
