(ECNS) -- More than 13.83 million hectares of crops had been harvested in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province as of Wednesday, accounting for more than 88% of the total area due for harvest, the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said Thursday.
Farmers across the province are making the most of favorable weather to complete the harvest, with some farms having finished operations, according to the department.
At Qinglongshan Farm, part of Beidahuang Group, a two-stage harvesting method involving cutting crops and laying them in rows before collecting them later has helped boost harvesting efficiency by nearly 30%. The farm has expanded the use of this method to 24,500 hectares this year, accounting for 67% of its total harvesting area.
At Baoquanling Farm, also part of Beidahuang Group, the autumn harvest has been completed, with all crops gathered from its cultivated land. During the final stage of harvesting, the farm coordinated the deployment of agricultural machinery across different areas and had agricultural technicians guide operators in adjusting equipment to reduce grain losses.
