(ECNS) -- A 33-year-old man has been detained for spreading false claims that a front-row ticket to Chinese actor and singer Xiao Zhan's upcoming concert cost 250,000 yuan ($35,100), Chinese police said Tuesday.
The man, surnamed Wang, fabricated ticket prices on WeChat on Oct. 13 to gain online attention and solicit business on securing tickets, according to the cybersecurity bureau of China's Ministry of Public Security. He was given seven days of administrative detention and fined 1,000 yuan.
The rumor circulated ahead of Xiao's first solo concert tour, with tickets officially priced from 390 to 1,960 yuan. Ticketing platform Damai said the alleged high-priced tickets were fabricated and that the person responsible had no tickets to sell.
