(ECNS) -- China's eastern route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project began its 2026-2027 water transfer cycle on Tuesday.
This is the earliest water transfer since the eastern route began operating 14 years ago.
Under this year's plan, the project is expected to provide 561 million cubic meters of water to Jiangsu Province, 42 million cubic meters to Anhui Province and 665 million cubic meters to Shandong Province.
The Taierzhuang pumping station, located in Zaozhuang City of Shandong, is scheduled to divert 1.007 billion cubic meters of water from Jiangsu to Shandong during the current cycle.
