(ECNS) — China's domestically developed satellite internet system has successfully tested connectivity across the Arctic, Antarctic and Qinghai-Xizang Plateau for the first time, marking progress in extending communications to some of the world's most remote regions.
The verification was carried out aboard the research icebreaker Jidi during China's 16th Arctic expedition. The vessel also completed pre-commercial operational testing of the satellite internet system along its Arctic route, according to Xinhua on Monday.
