China contains wildfire along 330-km stretch of border with Mongolia

(ECNS) -- Chinese firefighting and rescue teams have contained a wildfire along more than 330 kilometers of the border with Mongolia after seven days and six nights of sustained efforts, preventing the flames from spreading into China, CCTV reported.

The grassland fire broke out in Mongolia last Thursday and spread toward the Chinese border, threatening border areas in Xilingol League, Hinggan League and Hulun Buir in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Multiple rescue teams worked together to contain the fire by conducting patrols, suppressing flames while clearing vegetation, and widening firebreaks.

The fire along the border is now largely under control, according to the latest update.
