(ECNS) -- Hong Kong Disneyland is expanding its reach in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as visitors increasingly favor interactive merchandise experiences over traditional souvenirs.
At a merchandise showcase held on Thursday, the park said interactive merchandise experiences such as the “Chip 'n' Dale Lucky Gold Bucket” have gained popularity, with more than 70,000 people taking part since its launch in April.
Hong Kong Disneyland also tries to draw visitors from mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area. During this year's Tmall 618 shopping festival, it ranked sixth among the platform's most popular brands, while visits by student members from the mainland rose by more than 25% year on year.
With Hong Kong-themed retro merchandise proving popular, the park said it would continue combining local cultural elements with Disney characters and stories.
New limited-edition Marvel and Mickey Mouse birthday merchandise is scheduled to be released toward the end of the year, as the park seeks to draw visitors through seasonal events and film-related releases.
