(ECNS) -- Ningbo Airport in east China's Zhejiang Province handled nearly 20,000 inbound and outbound passenger trips during the National Day holiday, up 34.25% from the same period in the previous month, according to figures released by the Ningbo Airport Border Inspection Station on Thursday. Daily passenger traffic averaged about 2,700 trips.
Inbound passenger traffic rose notably, with South Korea, the United States and Australia ranking as the top three countries of origin for foreign arrivals. As visa-free policies take effect, more travelers from Europe, Indonesia, Singapore and South Korea are visiting China.
Most passengers were inbound travelers returning home and outbound travelers heading to China's Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, as well as destinations such as Jeju Island in South Korea and Bangkok in Thailand. This pattern reflects the growing diversity of cross-border travelers at the airport.
Meanwhile, Ningbo Airport Customs has adopted a pre-screening system that uses non-intrusive inspection technology to inspect checked baggage before passengers collect it. Baggage that meets customs requirements can be collected without further checks, helping travelers leave the airport more quickly.
