(ECNS) -- The two people reported missing following a flash explosion on an engineering vessel docked along the Yujiang River in Guigang, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were confirmed dead on Thursday, local authorities said Friday.
They were found at 4:20 a.m. and 9:08 a.m. on Thursday, respectively, and forensic examinations confirmed that neither showed signs of life, according to a notice posted on the official WeChat account of the Gangnan District Emergency Management Bureau.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway, alongside efforts to handle the aftermath.
The blast occurred at about 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday along the riverbank in Hubiao village. Local authorities said the accident resulted from improper handling by construction workers while spraying the moored vessel.
