(ECNS) -- Seventeen-year-old Chinese Taipei player Kuo Kuan-hung defeated Liang Jingkun 3-1 in the men's singles round of 32 at the 2026 WTT China Smash in Beijing on Wednesday.

Earlier, Kuo and his teammates won bronze in the men's team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in September.

Chinese Taipei coach Chiang Peng-lung said he hoped table tennis players from both sides of the Taiwan Strait would have more opportunities to train and compete together.

Chiang added that joint training with top-level mainland players would help athletes from both sides sharpen their skills, noting that many young players from Taiwan have taken part in training camps in Hefei and Shanghai.
