New high-speed rail link shortens Shangqiu-Beijing trip by almost an hour

(ECNS) -- The Xiongshang section of the Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed railway entered operation on Sept. 28, marking the launch of the first high-speed train service from Shangqiu, Henan Province, to Xiong'an.

The opening adds 17 high-speed train services at Shangqiu Station. Four new services between Beijing and Shangqiu reduce travel time by nearly one hour, while the fastest journey between Xiong'an and Shangqiu now takes just 2 hours and 27 minutes.

Railway officials said the new line strengthens Shangqiu's position as a major transport hub and improves connections with the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta and cities along the route.
