Shanghai ports records 343,000 passenger trips during Mid-Autumn Festival holiday

 

(ECNS) -- Shanghai ports handled 343,000 inbound and outbound passenger trips during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Sept. 25 to 27, according to the Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection on Monday. 

Mainland Chinese travelers made 125,000 outbound trips through Shanghai ports, accounting for more than 60% of the total. South Korea, Thailand and Malaysia were among the popular destinations.

Shanghai ports handled 35,000 inbound foreign passenger trips during the holiday. Among them, 23,000 entered under visa-free or 240-hour visa-free transit policies, accounting for 65.7% of all inbound foreign passengers.

Cruise travel remained strong, with nearly 20,000 inbound and outbound passenger trips handled at Shanghai's Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal during the holiday period.

Shanghai immigration authorities said they strengthened passenger-flow monitoring and opened more inspection channels during peak periods to facilitate faster clearance.
