China's first 50,000-dwt smart and cybersecure tanker enters service

(ECNS) -- China's first 50,000-dwt MR product tanker with both smart ship and cybersecurity certifications entered service in Dalian, Liaoning Province, on Tuesday, marking a new step in the development of intelligent shipping. 

Named Zhihui Yunfan, the vessel was built by Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry for COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation. The tanker measures 182.9 meters in length and is designed to operate on both domestic and international routes.

The tanker can carry crude oil, aviation kerosene and other petroleum products and can load and unload three types of oil at the same time, supporting domestic and international routes.

The vessel meets the latest international environmental standards, with nitrogen oxide emissions meeting IMO Tier III standards, and supports biofuels for future fuel upgrades.

The tanker is equipped with smart systems for scheduling, remote monitoring and predictive maintenance. It also meets IACS requirements for ship cybersecurity and has received China Classification Society (CCS) certification.
