Giant flower basket unveiled at Beijing's Tiananmen Square

(ECNS) -- A giant flower basket themed "Blessing the Motherland" was unveiled at Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Tuesday, ahead of the National Day holiday.

The basket features flowers and fruits including roses, peonies, sunflowers and grapes, symbolizing flourishing flowers and abundant harvests. The words "Blessing the Motherland" and "Celebrating National Day" are displayed on its two sides.

Work is also underway on the massive flower bed at the base of the basket, expected to be completed around Friday.

Ten three-dimensional themed flower beds along Chang'an Avenue, between Jianguomen and Fuxingmen, are also being constructed and will be unveiled by the end of September to welcome the holiday.
