2026 China-ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Forum opens in Nanning

 

(ECNS) -- The 2026 China-ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Forum opened on Wednesday in Nanning, southwest China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It featured the release of the China-ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Strategy and Action Framework (2026-2030).

Participants praised past bilateral cooperation and agreed to build stronger consensus on regional environmental governance, turning the results of cooperation into concrete actions in support of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Addressing the forum, Sui Guohua, vice chairwoman of Guangxi, emphasized the need to leverage Guangxi’s role as a key gateway to ASEAN to promote green industrial collaboration, advance low-carbon, circular development, and enhance regional climate resilience.

Running through Friday, the forum brings together nearly 300 representatives from environmental ministries from ASEAN countries, Chinese local authorities, international organizations, research institutes, and enterprises.

Discussions focus on green and low-carbon transformation, building climate resilience, compliance with international environmental conventions, and innovation in green finance.
