(ECNS) -- Smart elderly care products drew large crowds at the 2026 China International Consumer Electronics Expo (CICE), held in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, from Friday to Sunday.
The expo featured a dedicated smart elderly care exhibition zone for the first time, showcasing intelligent rehabilitation equipment and age-friendly home products.
By the end of 2025, China had 323.38 million people aged 60 and above. Technology is increasingly playing a key role as the focus shifts from basic elderly care to improving quality of life.
Products on display included AI-powered exoskeletons that adapt to users' walking habits, smart beds that monitor heart rate and breathing without wearable devices, and multi-functional electric wheelchairs equipped with brain-computer interfaces. These devices reflect a shift in user demand from passive care to active wellness.
Wang Quanxi, brand marketing director of Haier's senior care division, said age-friendly equipment is becoming more refined and intelligent, with AI integration making products easier to use.
The expo also featured products offering personalized solutions, including an AI moxibustion robot that uses AI to identify acupoints, and massage chairs that automatically adjust pressure based on body type.
The industry is moving from single-product sales to full-scenario solutions. At the booth of Teinyo Medical Robot, an AI health cabin allowed visitors to experience a complete service cycle from health assessment to personalized therapy.
Zhang Youhua, deputy general manager of Teinyo Medical Robot, said the future of the elderly care industry lies in ecosystem integration. "Users no longer buy single products; they pay for convenience and comprehensive solutions," he said.
Liu Pengcheng, associate professor at Qingdao University's School of Economics, said China's silver economy continues to gain momentum, with smart elderly care becoming a new growth driver for the consumer electronics sector.
