(ECNS) -- Preparations for the 6th Australia-China Spring Festival Gala officially began in Sydney on Monday, with the 2027 Australia-China Cultural Week scheduled to run from Jan. 23 to 31.
Nearly 100 guests from China and Australia attended the launch event, where organizers announced that the gala will be a key event of the cultural week.
According to Suo Jiang, director of the gala and president of the Australia China Cultural and Friendship Communication Association (ACCFCA), the event has grown from a single performance into a broad platform for cultural exchange.
Marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Australia, the cultural week will include art exhibitions, performances, and diverse activities designed to promote mutual understanding.
Renowned Chinese tenor Ding Yi, professor at the China Conservatory of Music, has been appointed artistic director of the gala.
Organizers emphasized that the cultural week will bring together artists from both nations to showcase traditional Chinese culture alongside contemporary art, highlighting the richness of cross-cultural collaboration.
