(ECNS) -- China officially launched a five-year program in Beijing on Tuesday to support more than 100 promising young football players training overseas, with annual funding of up to 450,000 yuan ($67,000) per player.

Jointly launched by the China Football Development Foundation and the Chinese Football Association, the “Future Stars” program offers targeted support for Chinese footballers aged 15 to 17, enabling them to train with overseas professional clubs and compete in high-level youth leagues worldwide.

The funding eligibility is tied to participation in officially designated high-level competitions. The program recognizes 192 youth leagues across 26 countries and regions as qualifying events.

Annual funding ranges from 250,000 yuan to 450,000 yuan, depending on the level and location of the player’s training and competition.

The application for this year’s program opened on September 1 and will close on September 30. The list of selected players receiving funding support will be publicly announced in November this year.
