(ECNS) -- Dashiqiao in Liaoning Province, dubbed China’s “Magnesium Capital,” has pivoted its magnesium industry away from raw material exports toward high-end processed products built on independent core technologies, gaining a foothold in premium global markets.
Once a low-value exporter with scant pricing power, local enterprises have moved up the value chain in recent years. Yingkou Sinomagchem Group, a leading magnesium chemical producer, has won multiple top-tier international certifications including EU REACH registration and now supplies specialized magnesium fertilizers and feed additives to more than 60 countries.
Another local refractory materials producer, Yingkou Jinlong Refractories Group, has replaced imported premium magnesia bricks for high-temperature industries, with 65% of its 570,000-metric-ton annual capacity now sold to over 20 countries.
With smart manufacturing upgrades ensuring stable product quality, the transformation of the magnesium sector marks a typical success story of China’s resource industries moving up the global value chain.
