(ECNS) -- South China’s Hainan Province and Changchun, capital of northeast China’s Jilin Province, are seeking to deepen cross-regional cooperation in culture and tourism, according to a recent press conference held in Changchun.
With Hainan known for its tropical climate and Jilin rich in ice and snow resources, the two regions have strong potential for cooperation across multiple fields, said Chen Tiejun, director general of the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports.
According to Chen, the two regions will target both domestic and international markets and participate in each other’s major events. Next year’s Hainan Island Carnival will be held simultaneously in Haikou and Changchun.
Meanwhile, the two sides will encourage cooperation among travel agencies and online platforms to develop cross-provincial travel routes and expand two-way tourist flows.
By combining Changchun’s ice and snow scenery, ecological resources and film industry with Sanya’s coastal attractions, wellness tourism and international consumption offerings, Hainan and Jilin aim to build the tourism brand of “Changchun in the north, Sanya in the south,” Chen said.
Supported by the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Hainan has become an increasingly attractive destination for film projects, while Jilin has a long-established film industry, providing another potential area for cultural and tourism cooperation between the two regions.
“The two provinces can build a platform for collaboration in the film sector to further advance integration,” Chen said.
