(ECNS) -- A new automobile logistics yard at Tianjin Port's Global Ro-Ro terminal was officially put into operation on Wednesday, with the first batch of commercial vehicles entering the facility on the same day, according to Tianjin Port Group.
The yard, located in the Beijiang port area, was built by Tianjin Port Global Ro-Ro Terminal Co., Ltd. It covers a total area of 176,200 square meters and includes facilities such as a multi-story parking garage and an office building. The yard integrates loading and unloading, storage and distribution functions, offering about 5,000 parking spaces and an annual vehicle turnover capacity of approximately 140,000 units.
The facility features a digital management system with video surveillance, smart access control, broadcasting and energy monitoring. Two wastewater treatment systems enable centralized treatment and recycling, supporting the port's green transition. Safety measures include fire protection, automatic extinguishing, lightning protection and emergency evacuation systems.
Tianjin Port Group said the new yard will further enhance the port's ro-ro logistics network and strengthen the storage capacity for imported and exported vehicles in northern China. The group plans to continue integrating storage, distribution and inspection services to support the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei automotive industry cluster.
