The route currently operates twice a week, with plans to increase frequency to meet growing demand. Inbound flights will mainly transport African agricultural and livestock specialties such as coffee, fresh flowers, fruits, vegetables, beef, and mutton.

Outbound flights will carry high-value Chinese goods, including new energy vehicles, photovoltaic equipment, and lithium batteries.

Tang Ruibo, Ethiopian Airlines’ China general manager, said the Addis Ababa hub will allow cargo from Chengdu to be efficiently distributed to major African cities including Lagos, Accra, Dakar and Entebbe.
