Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei recently hit the nail on the head: Washington's "addiction" to sanctions has paralyzed its ability to think. Sanctions have evolved from a policy tool into a chronic habit.
Relying on a mix of hegemonism, unilateralism, power politics, and long-arm jurisdiction, Washington simply doubles the dosage whenever diplomacy stalls. Yet this heavy-handed strategy only exposes the decay of American diplomatic competence. By repeatedly discarding international norms, the U.S. is eroding its global credibility and driving itself down a lonely, unilateral dead end.
