(ECNS) -- Beijing and Bangkok will focus on practical cooperation in air pollution control over the next three years, according to Beijing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau on Tuesday.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and the 32nd anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Beijing and Bangkok.

Under the framework of sister-city exchange, Beijing is sharing its expertise in air quality monitoring and management with Bangkok through various initiatives, including dispatching experts to Bangkok and inviting Thai representatives to Beijing for exchanges.

Beijing's sensor-based PM2.5 monitoring network has received high praise from Thailand, which has expressed interest in learning from Beijing’s experience in air pollution control.

During this three-year cooperation, Beijing would enhance experience-sharing with Bangkok on air pollution control and monitoring through mutual visits, personnel training, and support for relevant pilot projects.

In recent years, Beijing has made remarkable progress in air pollution control. In 2024, the city's annual average PM2.5 concentration decreased by 65.9 percent compared to 2013, maintaining compliance with the national air quality Grade II standard for four consecutive years.
