The Chongyang Festival, also known as the Double Ninth Festival, is an annual festival to show respect and care for the elderly throughout China.
The Chongyang Festival falls on October 23 this year, where a diverse range of activities were held across the country to pay respect to elderly people and appreciate the wisdom they pass down.
During this time-honored festival, families come together to take part in various activities, including hillside hikes, chrysanthemum wine toasts, kite flying, and savoring Chongyang cakes.
In Shanghai, local residents were queuing outside pastry shops to buy traditional cakes on Monday.
In addition, a special wedding ceremony for 15 elderly couples was held on Sunday. Professional photographers were invited to shoot wedding photos for them.
In southwest China's Chongqing, volunteers on Saturday prepared 99-meter-long longevity noodles for elders, wishing them good health.
In southwest China's Guizhou Province, more than 400 elderly people gathered to watch performances and hold activities such as armwrestling competitions. They also savored a reunion meal to mark the Chongyang Festival.
