(ECNS) -- Two giant pandas are spending their first summer on the tropical island of Hainan.

The average temperature in Hainan has reached 35 degree celsius in July.

Staff at Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden have taken various measures to care for them.

Indoor air-conditioners, outdoor pools and routine ice cakes have helped them keep cool.

The male pair, "Gong Gong" and "Shun Shun," came to Hainan last November, becoming the first pandas to settle on the island.

They have adapted to the local climate in the past months, gaining over 15 kilograms each, local staff said.
