Chemistry Professor Xu Hai's lecture is sought-after at Central South University in Changsha, Hunan province.

He began his lectures using the hit Japanese animated show "Detective Conan" as an example since 2012.

The biggest room of the university is filled with students, eager to learn about the wonders of chemistry told through mystery-genre animations.

Zeng Qingling, from Central South University, said experiments with great visual effects help them be more clear about chemistry theories.

Animated series 'Detective Conan' was the brainchild of Japanese cartoonist Gosho Aoyama.

The little detective basically solves one case per episode, mostly by putting to use his vast knowledge of chemistry.
