Chinese swimmer gets gold at FINA World Cup in Hungary

Chinese swimmer Wang Jianjiahe won the women's 400m freestyle event with a new world record at the FINA Swimming World Cup here on Thursday.

Wang won the race with a time of 3 minutes 53.97 seconds, defeating Leah Smith (3 minutes 58.94 seconds) from the USA who got the silver and Femke Heemskerk from the Netherlands who got the bronze with a time of 4 minutes and 00.03 seconds. Wang competed in the women's 1,500m freestyle event at the 2018 Asian Games, winning the gold medal.

In the Women 50m Freestyle event, the Dutch athletes were the leaders, with Ranomi Kromowidjojo winning the gold with 23.23 seconds and Femke Heemskerk the bronze with 23.67 seconds, while the silver medal has been obtained by Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjoestroem (23.36 seconds).

In the Women's 200m Butterfly event, Hungarian swimming star Katinka Hosszu lived up to the expectations and secured the gold for her homeland with a time of 2 minutes and 03.14 seconds, followed by Chinese swimmer Zhang Yufei whose time was 2 minutes 03.29 seconds. Kelsi Dahlia from the USA won the bronze with 2 minutes and 03.33 seconds.

In the Women's 100m Medley event Katinka Hosszu won another gold with a time of 57.64 seconds, followed by Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjoestroem whose time was 57.75 seconds. Kathleen Baker from the USA won the bronze with 58.02 seconds.

The Women's 50m Backtsroke event saw the victory of Australian swimmer Emily Seebohm with a time of 26.05 seconds. She was followed by Georgia Davies from Great Britain with 26.13 seconds and the bronze medal was won by the winner of the Women 50m Freestyle event: Ranomi Kromowidjojo from the Netherlands with a time of 26.19 seconds.

Russian swimmers were at the top of the Women 200m Breaststroke event, with Yuliya Efimova winning the gold with a time of 2 minutes and 17.88 seconds, and Vitalina Simonova won the silver with a time of 2 minutes and 19.43 seconds. Melanie Margalis from the USA came third with a time of 2 minutes and 20.30 seconds and won the gold.

Vladimir Morozov from Russia won the gold with a time of 20.51 seconds at the Men's 50m Freestyle event, defeating Benjamin Proud from Great Britain who swam the distance with a time of 20.89 seconds. Bradley Tandy from the Republic of South African arrived third with a time of 21.06 seconds.

In the Men's 100m Butterfly event, South African swimmer Chad Leclos won the gold with a time of 49.22 seconds, followed by French Mehdy Metella whose time was 49.71 seconds. Nicholas Santos from Brazil won the bronze with 50.12 seconds.

In the Men's 100m Breaststroke event, Felipe Lima from Brazil came at the first place with a time of 56.69 seconds, Anton Chupkov from Russia was second with a time of 56.97 seconds and Chinese swimmer Wang Lizhuo came third with a time of 57.03 seconds.

In the Men's 100m Medley event, Vladimir Morozov from Russia won the gold medal with a time of 50.32 seconds, Michael Andrew from the USA was second with a time of 51.55 seconds and Japanese swimmer Matsui Kosuke got the bronze with a time of 53.08 seconds.

In the Men's 200m Backstroke event, Australian Mitchell Larkin was the fastest with a time of 1 minute and 49.52 seconds, Irie Ryosuke from Japan was second with a time of 1 minute and 50.97 seconds and Radoslaw Kawecki from Poland got the bronze with a time of 1 minute and 53.00 seconds.

In the Men's 400m Freestyle event, Mack Horton from Australia won the gold with a time of 3 minutes and 41.78 seconds, followed by Blake Pieroni from the USA with a time of 3 minutes and 42.74 seconds, whereas Polish swimmer Wojciech Wojdak came third with a time of 3 minutes and 43.52 seconds. The swimming tournament continues Friday and Saturday.
