China's Ministry of Public Security has dispatched a team of eight police officers to Croatia for a monthlong joint patrol with their Croatian counterparts.

The team departed on Wednesday and has arrived in the European country, the ministry said in a statement.

Since signing a memorandum of understanding on joint police patrols in 2017, China and Croatia have completed five rounds of such patrols, according to an official with the ministry's international cooperation bureau.

"These patrols have become a vivid example of friendship between the two countries' law enforcement departments and have won praise from various sectors," the official said.

The Chinese officers will assist Croatian police in handling security requests from Chinese tourists and will work with their counterparts to help create a safe environment for travelers, the official said.
