What to expect at the Beijing Horticultural Expo's closing ceremony

After opening on April 28, the Beijing International Horticultural Expo will end with a closing ceremony on October 9. 

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and leaders and senior officials from other countries will participate in the ceremony and celebrate the successful conclusion of the event.

According to the organizer, over 9.3 million domestic and international visitors attended the expo. 

The exhibition attracted participants from some 110 countries, regions and international organizations as well as 120 non-official exhibitors.

Some 3,280 activities were held during in the expo. In an area of 503 hectares, roughly the size of 500 football pitches, almost 100 Chinese and international pavilions showed visitors the latest horticultural achievements and the idea of green development.

"All international participants said that the expo has professional and efficient preparation and management, a complete regulation system, and will leave Chinese mark in the history of world horticulture,"said Gao Yan, vice director of the Organizing Committee of the Beijing Expo 2019.

"The expo showed more than 8,000 world distinguished gardening and rare plants, as well as over 820 vegetables, fruit trees, Chinese herbal medicines, making it the first ever comprehensive expo showing horticultural achievement," said Wang Hong, a senior official. 

Themed "Live Green, Live Better," the expo featured the exhibitors' varied and latest achievements in floriculture, innovative developments in green technology, as well as creative ways of integrating horticulture into daily life. 

The organizer says that the expo site will continue working as a base to raise awareness of ecological protection and green development.
