With the increase of international and bilingual schools in recent years, more good teachers are needed.

According to incomplete statistics, there are over 100 international schools (including bilingual schools) in Shanghai. However, many teachers often quit, Shanghai Morning Post reported Monday.

"The instability of teaching staff and the shortage of high-quality international teachers have become a common concern at many international schools," said Xu Qingming, general manager of Shanghai International Studies University Education Group.

At present, international schools are usually composed of foreign teachers, overseas returnees and native Chinese teachers. Foreign teachers know more about English, but do not understand the background of Chinese students. Returnees are highly educated but lack experience in systematic psychology and pedagogy, which requires classroom practice. Native Chinese teachers are more accustomed to traditional models of teaching methods.
