A total of 2,016 sets of "Postal Parcel for Mothers" were donated to mothers in China's rural areas as part of PepsiCo's charity campaign for the upcoming Chinese Spring Festival.
PepsiCo launched the charity campaign of "Bring Happiness Home" in the town of Xishacheng, north China's Hebei Province on Monday.
Postal parcels, containing daily necessities and clothes, were delivered to mothers in a bid to improve their living conditions and bring them a joyful festival.
Representatives of China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and PepsiCo Greater China Region (PepsiCo GCR), as well as Liu Xiao Ling Tong, famed Monkey King performer, attended the launch ceremony of the campaign.
Qin Guoying, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the CWDF, highlighted the role of PepsiCo in lending a helping hand to rural mothers in China.
Katty Lam, Chairwoman of PepsiCo GCR, said that the campaign aims to "bring happiness to millions of Chinese and promote traditional Chinese culture."
"Spring Festival, the most important traditional festival for the Chinese, is a holiday of family reunion as well as a festival to promote traditional culture," Liu Xiao Ling Tong said.
As for the charity parcels, PepsiCo mobilizes new media resources to encourage and lead young people to care for impoverished rural mothers.
Initiated by CWDF in 2012, the "Postal Parcel for Mothers" is a well-known charity program in China. And PepsiCo has contributed to the program for four consecutive years, amounting to more than 2 million yuan.
