China Coast Guard urges the Philippines to stop provocations at Ren'ai Reef

(ECNS) — A spokesperson for the China Coast Guard on Wednesday denounced the Philippines for sending two small boats from a vessel illegally grounded at Ren'ai Reef, saying they deliberately provoked Chinese coast guard ships by approaching in a dangerous and unprofessional manner.

The spokesperson, Gan Yu, said Chinese coast guard vessels acted in accordance with the law to control the Philippine boats, and the operations were legitimate and proper.

Gan urged the Philippine side to immediately stop all infringements, provocations and hype, adding that the China Coast Guard will continue rights-protection law enforcement in waters off Ren'ai Reef to resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty and maritime interests.
