South Center, an inter-governmental organization of developing countries, has released a report critical of the U.S.'s WTO Section 301 actions, calling them illegitimate and misguided.
The 50-pages report takes seven parts to explain the section 301 actions' history, aim and the potential damage it might bring to multilateral trade system. It particularly looks in detail as to why the U.S.' actions are illegitimate and misguided.
The U.S. is accusing China of industrial policies, while it has been the pre-eminent country having its own version of such policies including, Carlos Maria Correa, executive director of the South Center, told CGTN.
He said that if these actions continue and expand, the ensuing trade war is likely to delegitimize the WTO and its current functions in regulating trade while he has strong confidence in steadfast pace of Chinese economy's development.
