The volume of Thailand's durians exported to China rose 700 percent year on year in April amid the surging e-commerce sale, Thai commerce ministry unveiled recently.

In April alone, the country has exported 120,000 tons of durians, among which 56,000 tons went to China. Local media attribute the surge of export to the power of e-commerce.

Alibaba Group, a Chinese e-commerce giant, partnered with the Thai government to drive overseas growth for Thai farmers in April.

Alibaba has pledged to jointly promote the sale of 3 billion yuan (470.3 million U.S. dollars) worth of durian over the next three years.

Statistics from the ministry also showed that the value of export leaped 12.3 percent in April year on year, which has been the 14th consecutive month of growth.

Authorities said the growth was mainly driven by the potential Chinese market.
